Kind of like an informational pamphlet...

There was nothing earth shattering in this book for me. Eat better, drink water, get enough sleep: if only I and every other person suffering from fatigue had a dollar every time we heard/read that, we would be millionaires. It was well written and informative, but you can find the same stuff on the first result of a Google search.

I was always tired, I have a 9-5 job that heavily drained my life source away, and I'm still in my 20s. This book is like a saving grace to me, the information is very detailed yet broken down so that it is easy to understand. The tips and suggestions are amazing and very easy to follow too.
I can feel that I have gotten much better now and I can work with much more energy than before.

About the Author

Stewart Brown is a poet and critic who teaches African and Caribbean literature at the Centre of West African Studies, University of Birmingham.
John Wickham is literary editor of the Nation newspaper (Barbados) and editor of Bim, the Caribbean's longest-established literary journal. One of the most respected figures in Caribbean literature, he also served as a Senator in the Barbados parliament.

A gripping glimpse of the cricket playing Caribbean

This is the book which truly gives the reader a feeling of the "cricket playing Caribbean" a term the editors borrowed from Guyanese-born professor Gordon Rohlehr. Editors Stewart Brown and John Wickham have expanded the borders the Caribbean by including two writers from Suriname, a writer from Panama and Gabriel Garcia Marquez from Colombia. Marquez described himself as a Caribbean writer in a collection of interviews he did for a book entitled The Fragrance of Guava. There are also stories from Cuba, and Puerto Rico. The book begins with a wonderfully symbolic story by Barbadian writer Frank Collymore entitled "Some People Were Meant to Live Alone." In this story, a young man visits his eccentric uncle who may have been a murderer. In the end, the young man becomes a recluse himself. The philosophical question of whether or not we are meant to be alone or in the company of others applies, in many ways, to the individual islands of the Caribbean. The editors say they purposely began their anthology with the story because Collymore is considered by many to be the father of modern Caribbean literature. The book ends with "Nineteen Thirty-Seven", a story by young Haitian writer Edwidge Danticat. This story of a daughter visiting her mother who has been imprisoned wrongfully by the Haitian government because traitors have named her as a practitioner of voodoo, is also symbolic because it shows us how superstition often rules these islands. It also shows us how the literary torch is being passed on to a new generation of writers. In between these two stories are a delightful offering of stories which capture the fine nuances of life in the Caribbean. No other book I've read so far, deals better with the relationship between males and females, a giddy game of posturing and submission which is sometimes tragic and sometimes humourous.

A fine entry into short-form Caribbean Literature

Sadly, this was to be John Wickham's last contribution to West Indian literature, as one of the region's finest writers and editors died in 2000. Indeed, the reader owes a debt of gratitude to Wickham for his discerning eye and vast knowledge of Caribbean writers and writing shine through in this book. But we have this fine gift to cherish in his memory and in honour of the rich and diverse tradition and innovation that is Caribbean writing. As much as are Wickham's own short stories, this anthology is striking in its range, readability and resonance. And as the Caribbean consciousness has transcended cultural and strict geopolitical lines over the last century, the range of offerings in this book has also grown from what it would have delivered had it come out a few decades earlier. This book embraces Haiti, Colombia as much as the Anglophone Caribbean. An essential collection of short story writing in English and as delicious a slice of the West Indian civilization as you're likely to find anywhere.

Perfect study guide to complement reading the Book of Mormon

I purchased this as a study help to accompany my reading of the Book of Mormon. I am only 35 pages in, but I am sold! I have learned more from reading those 35 pages than I have in the last 2 years of studying on my own and attending Sunday School. Most of the content is formatted in question/answer form, with the question being directed to a small selection of verses and the answer being a quote. The majority of the quotes are from church leaders, but there are also secular sources now and then.

If you enjoy studying the scriptures with a study guide, this book is packed with quotes and other information that will only strengthen your testimony of the church.

This is the most comprehensive Book of Mormon study guide available. Instead of telling you what certain verses mean, like those guide mentioned by other reviewers, this book provides evidence through scripture and prophetic quotes. It is a great companion book to use for personal study and a perfect aid for use during Gospel Doctrine and class discussion.

What I found most interesting was the eBook Version. This is the most comprehensive eBook that Deseret Book has released to date. The eBook includes an astounding 600 additional pages of material over the paper copy. When I read the scriptures on my iPad or iPhone, I find it extremely convenient to be able to quickly switch from scripture study to the eBook to read the commentary.

Unique and thought-provoking Book of Mormon Commentary

I received a copy of this for Christmas and love it. I purchased a second for my wife because we can't share. When I discovered that there was additional content on the DB electronic edition, I purchased that as well. I guess what I am saying is that I think I'm personally responsible for this book being #1 on the DB best seller list. The commentary is different from anything you would get anywhere else and I'm impressed with the questions and the charts inserted throughout the book. Well done!

About the Author

Agnès Bénassy-Quéré is the Director of the CEPII, the French leading research institute in international economics, and a Professor at University Paris-Ouest (on leave). She is a member of France's Commission Economique de la Nation and also teaches at Ecole Polytechnique. Her research interests focus on the international monetary system and European macroeconomic policy.

Benoit Coeuré teaches international economics and economic policy at École polytechnique in Paris. He has served in various official positions in the French government including as the CEO of France's debt management office, Agence France Trésor and as France's deputy deputy to the G-7 and G-20. He has also been the co-President of the Paris Club. Benoît Coeuré has authored articles and books on economic policy, the international monetary system and the economics of European integration.

Since January 2002, Pierre Jacquet has been executive director (in charge of strategy) and chief economist at the French Development Agency (AFD). He was formerly deputy director of the French Institute of International Relations (IFRI) and chief editor of IFRI's quarterly review Politique Etrangère. He is professor of international economics and chairman of the department of economics and finance at the Ecole des Ponts-ParisTech and a guest professor in executive programs at the French business school INSEAD. His fields of interest include globalization, international monetary and financial issues, trade policies and negotiations, economic policy and development.

Jean Pisani-Ferry is the Director of Bruegel, the Brussels-based economic think tank, and a professor of economics with Université Paris-Dauphine. He has had a career in research and policy, both in France and at European level. He has been Executive President of the French PM's Council of Economic Analysis, Senior Economic Adviser to the French Minister of Finance, Director of CEPII, the French institute for international economics, and Economic Adviser with the European Commission. He has a regular column in Le Monde and Handelsblatt.

Great purchase

I am new to the field of economics, and I usually don't like to take the road everyone else takes, I prefer reaching things indirectly.
Instead of buying Mankiw, etc., and those s***ty books, this was a great choice.

This book exists, not in an abstract plane void of any prescriptive and explanatory power, but at the intersection of the State and the domestic economy.

I highly recommend it.

Jover-Ledesma, LL.B., LL.M. (Taxation), CPA, is the principal of CPATAX SERVICES, INC., a tax, accounting and consulting firm. Ms. Jover-Ledesma specializes in federal, estate and international taxation. She is a licensed CPA in Illinois. Her practice also includes audit, accounting and wealth planning. She is currently an Adjunct Faculty at Harper College, Illinois. Concise and very useful.

I purchased the book earlier this week, and it arrived yesterday. First order of business was to extract the CD that came with the book, and check out the exercises. In the CD sleeve there is a paper with access and activation codes. After installing the software on the CD, I clicked on the “Exercises” tab and was provided about 40 performance-based exercises, which consisted of drag and drop, command line (such as, “use the command to verify connectivity to address 172.16.178.2”), and more.

The book begins with the flashcards themselves, organized into chapters. The cool part was that I could look at the each of the flashcards on the right hand side of the page (3 cards per page), and easily turn the page to see the back side (and the answer) to each or all of the flash cards on the back of that page. I think having them all in a book is convenient, as I won’t lose any that way. It should also make it easier to go to a specific chapter, as they are organized by chapter.

After the flashcard section, the book (on page 254) begins a very concise “reader’s digest” summary of the topics for each of the chapters. I have taken the CompTIA Network+ N10-006 exam, and the summaries are on point!

I haven’t yet looked at the hundreds of sample questions that comes as part of the digital offering with this book, but I imagine that they are as good as the content I have seen so far, which is excellent.

ALL IN ONE EXAM PRACTCE PACK!!!!!!

Do you need help with your upcoming Network+ exam? If you do, then this book is for you! Author Anthony Sequeira, has done an outstanding job of writing a book that uses Flash Cards to ensure your quick recall of the many facts and rich vocabulary of modern networking.

Author Sequeira, begins by ensuring that you can compare and contrast various networking devices and services components. Then, the author covers how to become well versed in the purpose of networking services; and, be able to describe the elements of a typical configuration. He continues by discussing the many advancements in wide area networks that will make them more tolerable and affordable. Then, the author discusses the importance of learning the various cable media options; as well as, the connectors that help make them valuable. He then describes how the way in which networks operate, can be divided into two topologies: Physical and Logical. Next, the author explores how it is critical for any engineer to ensure that the addressing used in a network, is properly implemented. He continues by showing you the key function of the network: How to route information between subnets. Then, the author discusses why Voice over IP is one of the most exciting areas in IT right now. He then shows you the major data center paradigm shift that is underway, that eliminates the need for companies to have their own data centers. Next, the author reviews key items to consider, from assessing the network requirements to crucial security issues. He continues by showing you some of the key tools and aspects of monitoring your network as proactively as possible. Then, the author explores several scenarios that would benefit from network segmentation. He then describes how to test the upgrade, update, or patch in a text environment before rolling it out to production. Next, the author examines several features that are used with Layer 2 switches. He continues by examining several concepts as they relate to wireless local area networks. Then, the author looks at why it is important to maintain network security.
He then covers how security controls can be implemented and configurations made to improve the security posture for network devices and hosts that connect to those networks. The author also examines troubleshooting methodologies as presented in the CompTIA Network+ blueprint. He continues by examining several tools that can be used from the command-line interface of network devices; as well as, physical and software-based troubleshooting tools. Then, the author addresses several issues that could impact network connectivity for network devices that are using wireless; as well as, physical cabling, such as unshielded twisted pair that uses copper. He then presents several troubleshooting areas that can occur on networks today. Finally, the author addresses many of the networking standards and theories that are used in computer network; as well as, the ports employed by many common applications.

The CD that accompanies this excellent book is also very valuable. It is critical that you study with the resources contained in this great book before you take the exam.

New definition of "Flash Cards"

I haven't had a chance to dig through it yet, but at first glance, it loses two stars right away. It says "Flash Cards". There are several pages (about 220) in the book, in standard paperback stock, that can be cut out to be used like flashcards. This would physically destroy the book, and they are not cards at all, so they will get destroyed themselves easily.

At least the ones on the disk, should be portable, with my phone... I look forward to trying them.
